Roses My Dear

2/15/2012

Our church Valentine's Day dinner program was Sunday.  There were about 150 people in attendance.  We had a great time visiting with one another and eating a nice ham and chicken buffet dinner.  Our entertainment for the night was some of our loyal choir members.  With a few props such as Army hats or Afro wigs they chronicled many different song stylings.  They sang songs from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s.  Hilarious!

From the Andrew Sisters, Cass Elliot to Hee Haw, the music was incredible.  The Master of  Ceramonies wore Walter's tuxedo including the red bow-tie and cummerbund.  He was so handsome.  When I hugged him I told him he reminded me of my husband when he was a little younger.

The tables were decorated with dozens of red roses, my favorite flower.  During the course of the evening, 15 names were drawn for the centerpieces.  We were lucky enough to win one of the centerpieces.  Walter had already bought one rose for me.  The single roses were sold as a fund raiser for the church mission trip to Haiti planned for March.

So winning the centerpiece gave us 13 roses.  I was delighted.  So pretty!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.

Jean, Edd and Elizabeth went to Knoxville for the day.  They went to a place called Befitting where she was able to get another prosthesis and some underclothes.  For the rest of the day they planned a nice  buffet and if all were up to it, some side stops to antique malls on the way home.
