OMC

Once a year our church youth program does an outdoor event called OMC or Organized Mass Chaos.

The objective is to let the children have some messy fun plus bond with the church family too.  None of our grandchildren attend our church but they visit often enough that I felt it was appropriate for them to be part of the experience.  The day was temperature perfect.  We decided to stay for the morning.  I am glad we did.

The first activity was dodge ball with wading pools being the three bases.  First base was ramen noodles, second base was cotton balls in water and third base was mashed potatoes.  Are you getting the picture yet?  Home base was perched over an earth bank on a slip-and-slide.  A water slide no less!  Although the grandchildren tried to be careful to not get wet, soon getting wet and messy became their primary goal.  All the others were doing the same.  Here are some pictures of the group.

Soon they were covered in baby powder, glitter and shaving cream.  We were lucky that one mother stayed with us for the whole event.  There would have been no way to explain it to her later.  After team relays, slogan building and follow the instructions games, the leaders called for a wash off with the garden hose.  It looked like all the participants had a really good time.

All Cleaned Up and Still Smiling!
Then we went to the nearby Sonic for milkshakes and burgers.  We have talked about this event every time we see each other.  The glitter was still washing out of their hair three days later.  The youth leaders at our church are top notch!
