Red Devil Causes Damage

3/11/12

Jean and I talked yesterday.  On Friday she had her third chemo treatment.  During the testing that is done with every treatment, she was told her heart has started weakening.  Seems she scored 40 on a test where 50 was passing.

So the three medicines she was taking during her chemo treatments has been changed.  A drug that the personnel called the Red Devil was named as the culprit.  She is off of that now and was given Taxol to replace it.  And maybe Benedryl was substituted too.

She was told she may have body aches and muscle cramps for a few days.  As of Saturday early afternoon, she reported she has not felt any side effects.  Whew!  I was glad to hear that.

I am hopeful that the new treatments, which will be given each Friday, will allow for the strengthening of her heart.  If not, she might be subject to a cardic event.  I am wanting her to get well and go into remission for the rest of her life.  I pray for her healing.

Meanwhile while Edd is in Chattanooga, she and Elizabeth have decided to go to a magic show held near their town.  I say "Good going!".  Laughter may just be the best medicine.
